                         Welcome To "Felines Under Rescue"!

The Humane Society and the Dothan Animal Shelter are filled to over capacity with unwanted pets. The workers and volunteers there are doing everything they can possibly do to save the lives of these pets.

The root cause of all the unwanted animals in this area is the irresponsibility or inability of pet owners to have their pets spayed or neutered. Our goal is to reduce the number of unwanted and stray cats by trapping and fixing feral cats.  Our organization, Felines Under Rescue, in our first 6 years of existence has been responsible for having about 6000 cats sterilized, thus eliminating thousands of homeless kittens being born.  Unfortunately, since we have nowhere for them to go after they are fixed, we have to release them where we trapped them and hope that caregivers will feed them. In addition to helping sterilize the feral/stray cats, in the past 3 years we have been giving financial assistance to the vets if someone cannot afford to pay the spay/neuter fee for their pet cat.

Dothan now has a low-cost, high-volume spay neuter clinic, Wiregrass Spay/Neuter Alliance.  It is located at 570 S. Foster Street, Dothan, AL.  The phone number is 334-671-8111.  No matter where you live, no matter what your income is - you now have the opportunity for a spay/neuter you can afford.  Check out the website at www.Wiregrassspayneuter.org. It would be nice to live in an area where we never saw starving and homeless cats and dogs foraging in the garbage cans for food and wandering aimlessly along the highways.  By spaying or neutering your pets, you can help prevent this as well as reduce the high rate of euthanasia at our city pound.

Our only source of income is donations from animal lovers and friends. EVERY dollar we take in goes to pay the vet.  We have been paying $60 to $125 for a spay or neuter for each cat we trap.   We pay for postage, cat food, traps, and carriers ourselves.

"Won't you give a little to save a lot?"
